The very first winner of X Factor USA has been announced.
Melanie Amaro was crowned the 2011 series winner on Thursday night in Los Angeles.
Melanie Amaro has been celebrating in LA after winning the US version of The X Factor.
Amaro beat the last remaining over-30′s finalist in the show, Josh Krajcik, to take the 2011 crown.
Speaking just after performing the winning single (above), she said “thank you so much… this is something I’ve wanted for all my life”.
Amaro wins a $5 million recording contract and a spot in a Pepsi commercial that will air during next year’s Super Bowl.
This years winning single, ‘Listen’, is a cover of Beyonce’s 2007 song.
