Five Awesome Halloween Themed TV Show Episodes #Video

As the Halloween celebrations are upon us once again…

What better time to take a look back at five of the best Halloween episodes TV shows have had over the years.

Here was the criteria….

1. It had to be Halloweeny- not just a regular storyline that happens to happen at Halloween, sorry slutty pumpkin from How I Met Your Mother.

2. It had to be within the last twenty years… we’re all sick to death of reading about the old Halloween episodes like when the Brady bunch try to sacrifice Alice to their God before it was revealed that she had thoroughly lost her virginity to Sam the butcher… both virginities.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Season 2. Episode 6 – Halloween

How does a horror tv show celebrate Halloween? By making an instant classic. No vampire slaying in this episode of Buffy, as the 31st of October is a vamp’s night off. Evil comes in the shape of an old friend of Giles – Ethan who has opened a costume store.

Ethan’s costumes cause the wearer to turn into the figure they’ve dressed as. Buffy turns into a helplessly weak Victorian lady, Willow’s ghost costume turns her into an actual ghost and thankfully she is stuck in the slutty costume she was wearing under the sheet for the rest of the night and Xander is turned into a gung ho, hard-boiled GI.

It’s a fantastically fun episode that turns Buffy’s character upside down and the sequence where all the trick r’ treatin’ kiddies morph into nasty-ass demons is a hoot.

Glee – Season 2, Episode 5 – The Rocky Horror Glee Show

Critics of Glee (myself included) cannot deny the brilliance of dedicating a whole Halloween episode to Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror (Picture) Show.

The show really embraces the tone and humour of the Rocky, opening with Santana performing “Science Fiction, Double Feature” as the lips… which is very… watchable.

The episode also features cameos from two of the players from The Rocky Picture Show – Barry Bostwick and Meat Loaf, it’s an incredibly fun Halloweeny episode… but we do wonder why they changed the lyrics from “I’m a sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania” to “sensational Transylvania”.

The Simpsons – Season 6, Episode 6 – Treehouse of Horror V

It wouldn’t feel like Halloween without a Treehouse of Horror from The Simpsons and with 23 Treehouses (and counting..) it’s tough to pick a favourite… especially as each one is essentially three shorts together. But because of it’s pitch perfect lampooning of a horror classic Treehouse of Horror V has the other’s beat.

TOHV features Time and Punishment – where Homer accidently turns his toaster into a time machine, goes back to prehistory and discovers that every little action drastically changes the present, so he repeatedly has to keep going back until everything is near normal again.

Funny stuff but not as dark as Nightmare Cafeteria, which involves the teachers of Springfield Elementary turning cannibalistic and sneakily butchering students to put onto the lunch menu.

But the stand out is The Shinning, a loving mockery of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, with Homer in the Jack Nicholson role, instead of writer’s block (and ghosts) it’s the lack of TV and beer that make him go crazy. Check out this clip below in the form of an advert for Hulu.

Community – Season 3, Episode 5 – Horror Fiction in Seven Spooky Steps

Community has had great Halloween episodes so far, really cannot wait to watch the fourth one in, in… March…sigh. Till then you should revisit last year’s special. It’s very silly, fun, kinda nasty and weird.

So Britta has had the group fill out anonymous psych tests for her class and one of them has come back testing positive… FOR BEING A PSYCHOPATH!

So she holds everyone back from going to the Halloween party and asks them to tell some scary stories so she can evaluate who might be the psycho. As each story is told it’s played out on screen with the group in place of the characters, providing such brilliant images as werewolf Annie, Troy and Abed as gangbangers and Pierce with a bum on his chest and feet for hands

This episode also concluded the epic Community Beetlejuice gag – Beetlejuice has been mentioned in the first season, then again in the second and the third time in this episode and just like the film, say Beetlejuice three times and he appears (or someone in a Beetlejuice costume walks by in the background)

Castle – Season 1, Episode 6 – Vampire’s Weekend

Castle can be a pretty fun yet silly show sometimes, so it’s no surprise that it gets extra fun and silly at Halloween.

In this episode Castle and Beckett investigate a man stabbed in the heart with a stake, meaning the two have to delve into the underground world of vampire fetishists.

What is also pretty brilliant about this episode is the nod to a certain character from Nathan Fillion’s past that made us browncoats giddy with joy…

Ryan Lochte To Cameo In 90210 TV Show

US Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte is to appear as himself on TV show 90210

The gold medallist will feature in an October episode where he’ll cross paths with characters Naomi Clark and Max Miller.

Ryan Lochte has said that he would like a post-Olympics acting career and has appeared in a Funny or Die skit also featuring Patrick Stewart and Simon Pegg as recently as last week.

On 90210, Lochte will run into the two characters, Naomi and Max, as they take a holiday to try to sort out their relationship. The producers of show have said “We only wish the episode was a surf event so we could have gotten him in the water, but he deserves a little rest on dry land”

The swimmer also told the Today programme last week that he was moving to Los Angeles from Florida and was interested in making other TV appearances “I’m definitely looking towards Dancing With the Stars and The Bachelor, so we’ll see what happens”

Kourtney Kardashian Gives Birth To A Girl

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick have welcomed a new baby.

The reality star gave birth to her second child, a daughter named Penelope Scotland Disick on Sunday.

According to E!, Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s star Kourtney Kardashian had an all-natural birth, and the baby weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces. Following the birth the couple released a statement saying…

“Scott and I are overjoyed to welcome our precious angel Penelope Scotland Disick into our lives. We are forever blessed. Mommy and baby are resting comfortably”.

Kourtney’s mother Kris Jenner said of the birth…

“It was great. She had an easy delivery… [Penelope] is so cute. She looks just like Mason. She’s so beautiful. We are so happy”.

According to separate reports, Sienna Miller has also given birth over the weekend to her first child, so huge congratulations to her and fiancé Tom Sturridge for their new arrival!

Anderson Cooper Comes Out “The Fact Is, I’m Gay”

Longtime CNN anchor Anderson Cooper has revealed he’s gay.

In an e-mail to Andrew Sullivan, published with permission, he says “I believe there is value in making clear where I stand”.

In a response to last week’s Entertainment Weekly cover story on the emerging trend of celebrities coming out of the closet in a very matter-of-fact way, Anderson Cooper has revealed his sexuality in a letter to Daily Beast blogger Andrew Sullivan.

Andrew introduces the letter (excerpt below) by saying “I’ve known Anderson Cooper as a friend for more than two decades. I asked him for his feedback on this subject, for reasons that are probably obvious to most. Here’s his email in response which he has given me permission to post here”

An Excerpt From The E-Mail To Andrew Sullivan

“Recently, however, I’ve begun to consider whether the unintended outcomes of maintaining my privacy outweigh personal and professional principle. It’s become clear to me that by remaining silent on certain aspects of my personal life for so long, I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something – something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid. This is distressing because it is simply not true.

I’ve also been reminded recently that while as a society we are moving toward greater inclusion and equality for all people, the tide of history only advances when people make themselves fully visible. There continue to be far too many incidences of bullying of young people, as well as discrimination and violence against people of all ages, based on their sexual orientation, and I believe there is value in making clear where I stand.

The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud”.

‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ star called ‘Drive’ actor Ryan Gosling “a dreamboat” and “just stunning” during an interview with Jay Leno.

During an interview on Friday, Tonight Show host Jay Leno asked Andrew Garfield to clarify an interview in which he said he had a “proper man crush” on Ryan Gosling, to which he replied…

“He’s just a dreamboat… Its undebatable, He’s just stunning. Not only physically, but in terms of talent and just a general sex appeal that he has.”

Alec Baldwin married his fiancée Hilaria Thomas in New York City on Saturday.

The 30 Rock actor and Yoga instructor exchanged vows in front of family and friends at the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in Manhattan.

Only three months after announcing their engagement, Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Thomas have tied the knot. Baldwin’s 16-year-old daughter with ex-wife Kim Basinger, Ireland Baldwin, witnessed the ceremony, as well as fellow comics Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey.

The bride, who’ll now take Baldwin’s name, wore a silk magnolia trumpet Amsale gown with cap sleeves and a keyhole back neckline accented with crystal buttons, according to People.

Following the ceremony, the couple tweeted photographs of the wedding bling…

New Sesame Street Movie In The Works At Fox

Fox are making plans to show you how to get to Sesame Street!

The studio has picked up the rights to the iconic children’s TV show with longtime series writer Joey Mazzarino on board to write the screenplay.

Real Steel director Shawn Levy and his 21 Laps banner, along with Michael Aguilar, Mark Gordon and Film 360′s Guymon Casady are set produce a new Sesame Street movie for Fox, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Sesame Street has been developed for the big screen twice before, with 1985′s Follow That Bird and 1999′s The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland. The TV format is broadcast in dozens of countries around the world and it has also won 138 Emmys during its run.

> Fraggle Rock Movie Writers Unveiled

The educational series, which premiered in 1969, features a combination of live-action and puppetry, as well as animation. It is best known as the home of the Jim Henson creations Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Grover, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster and Elmo.

The newly announced film is the latest addition to a number of forthcoming Jim Henson films that have sprung from the wake of The Muppets’ success. Unsuprisingly, one of those will be a Muppets sequel, while the critters of Fraggle Rock will also be making their way onto the big screen in the near future.

Community And Homeland Take Critics Choice Awards Top Prizes

The 2012 Critics’ Choice Television Awards winners have been announced.

NBC’s Community and Showtime’s Homeland took top honours at the 2nd annual event held at the Beverly Hilton in LA on Monday.

Showtime’s Homeland took best drama honors and a best drama actress award for Claire Danes. PBS’ Sherlock was also a big winner, taking best miniseries/movie and best actor for Benedict Cumberbatch.

In Comedy, NBC’s Community took best series honors and Parks And Recreation‘s Amy Poehler shared the best comedy actress award with New Girl‘s Zooey Deschanel.

Chris Brown And Drake Had A Fight Where Innocent People Got Hurt

One of the biggest celebrity stories this week involves Chris Brown and the rapper Drake who got into a fight at a New York nightclub early on Thursday morning.

Amidst all the punching and bottle throwing, an innocent by-standing Australian tourist named Hollie C. was badly hurt. She told TMZ…

“Within a few moments of noticing glass being thrown around, I saw a glass bottle headed towards me; consequently hitting me in the head. I immediately started to bleed and proceeded to fall in and out of consciousness.”

It also appears that Brown has a gash on his chin, his bodyguard Big Pat’s big head was spraying blood everywhere, and everyone is saying it’s somehow Rihanna-related (because she may have boned Drake one time).

The Insane @Sweden Twitter Rant

Sweden’s Twitter experiment, which gives a different citizen control of the country’s @Sweden account each week, has gone from politically inspired to politically incorrect.

Only a day after the New York Times posted an article about the country’s Twitter initiative, the current curator, 27-year-old Sonja Abrahamsson, decided it would be a great open forum for her to discuss “The Jews” and even include Nazi references. She began by tweeting…

Spider-Man Technology A REALITY!

Ever wanted to get your hands on some REAL superhero technolgy? Hold on to your hat my friend! Without achieving quite the same stealth as Spiderman, US engineering students have nonetheless found a way to climb a wall (check it out above).

Powered by vacuums, the “Ascending Aggies” team from Utah State University built a wall-crawler called the ‘Personal Vacuum Assisted Climber’ (PVAC). The invention, which is designed to help commandos scale tall buildings without stepping into a vehicle or picking up a grappling hook, was created for an Air Force competition.

The team of engineering students out-competed groups from 16 other universities to win the Air Force Research Laboratory’s annual Design Challenge, earning $50,000 in grant money along with a chance to win double that.

Adam Sandler sat with Letterman on The Late Show, Wednesday.

During the interview he told Dave why his daughter gets to pick out his condoms and why his dad swears…

During an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman this week, Adam Sandler told Dave about how he lets his kids pick out his clothes each day. After Dave pointed out that this actually explains a lot, Sandler went on to describe how each of his two kids must get to pick out equal amounts of clothing.

The problem with this scenario is that it doesn’t always work out, and so when there is an odd number of items, Sandler jokingly says he will let one of the kids “pick the condom I get to bang your mother in tonight”.

The West Wing’s Mrs. Landingham Has Died

Actress Kathryn Joosten has sadly passed away at 72.

Most famous for her roles in The West Wing and Desperate Housewives, she died on Saturday following a battle with lung cancer.

Actress Kathryn Joosten, best known for her role on Desperate Housewives as Karen McCluskey and as President Bartlet’s secretary Mrs. Landingham in The West WIng, was with her family and friends in california when she passed away following a long battle with lung cancer on Saturday. Her rep told E! news…

“Kathryn passed away this morning after a valiant fight against her cancer. Her family was with her. Funeral arrangements are pending. This is a terrible loss, and she fought as hard as she could.”

Originally a psychiatric nurse, Kathryn started her acting career at the age of 42. Following small roles on Dharma and Greg, My Name is Earl and Ally McBeal, it was her West Wing and Desperate Housewives characters that she is now most remembered for.

Her portrayal of Karen McClusky on Desperate Housewives earned her the Outstanding Guest Actress Emmy in 2005 and 2008. Watch two emotional West Wing scenes featuring Kathryn as Mrs. Landingham above and below and leave any comments you have below.
