This Week In #Trending Trailers

Posted on September 30, 2012 by rukkle

Matt Damon in Promised Land rukkle presents all of the week’s best new trailers…

We’ve rounded up the week’s top trending and most shared trailers online, into one handy list!

This week we got a first look at films from Gus Van Sant and Korean master Park Chan Wook, along with the reunion (finally!) of Amy Heckerling and Alicia Silverstone. A fine selection of forthcoming films for the next few months.

The Promised Land

Matt Damon versus fracking? Yes, this film from Good Will Hunting director takes on the world of so-called “fracking” (no, not the Battlestar Galactica type of fracking, behave!) which is the process by which gas is extracted from below ground. The effect this process has on a small farming community and the attitudes of those responsible is scrutinised by Van Sant in what looks like a very interesting dissection of a controversial issue.

Vamps

Amy Heckerling and Alicia Silverstone last collaborated on Clueless (aka The Greatest Teen Movie of The Nineties). Here they are, together again and this time they’ve added the delightfully wicked Krysten Ritter. Silverstone and Ritter play two best friends living in New York who just so happen to be vampires. How can it NOT be good?

Stoker

This tremendous first trailer for Old Boy director Park Chan Wook’s English-language thriller has the internet’s heart all aflutter. Let the trailer speak for itself. But I’ll be damned if this doesn’t look like the best thriller of the year! Starring Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska as a very dysfunctional mother and daughter, this looks stylish, measured and deliciously dark.

Identity Thief

Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy are probably two of Hollywood’s most likeable comedy stars. This comedy, from the director of Horrible Bosses, sees Bateman as an uptight businessman who has his identity stolen by the gaudy and brash McCarthy. When he tracks her down to confront her, he finds getting rid of her more difficult than he thought.

Price Check

Parker Posey takes us through the exciting world of supermarket pricing. Well the trailer looks a lot more fun than it sounds! Just watch the trailer to see what we mean.

Gambit

From a script by the Coen Brothers, this madcap caper stars Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz, both playing against type. Also starring Alan Rickman, smiling more than he’s smiled in twenty years. Worth checking out.

Paranormal Activity 4

These films are all terrifying as far as we’re concerned so yet again this trailer scared the pants of us in the rukkle office. Enjoy!

Looper – Animated Trailer

This beautifully sketched animated trailer for Looper is so cool we just had to share…

Life of Pi

This second trailer is not only more informative than its predecessor, but it’s also even more of a visual feast! Now we’re even more excited for Ang Lee’s epic tale of man and tiger.

New Skyfall Footage in Emmy TV Spot

If you’re barmy for Bond you’ll enjoy this extra footage contained in the Emmy broadcast TV Spot. With director Sam Mendes bringing a touch of class to proceedinmgs we have high hopes for this latest Bond instalment.
