The Avengers Nets Biggest Opening In US Cinema History
The Avengers has opened to a staggering $207.4 million.
The film beat Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2’s existing record by more than $35 million.
The Marvel film’s big weekend also surpassed The Dark Knight‘s $158.4 million opening and The Hunger Games‘ $152.5 million debut.
‘The Avengers’, which reunites Marvel comic heroes Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and Black Widow, has collected $641.8 million since it opened internationally on April 25.

The movie has also taken in far more than its predecessors, Iron Man ($99 m), Iron Man 2 ($198 m), Thor ($66 m) and Captain America ($65 m).
The first weekend in May kicks off Hollywood’s summer movie-going season, a four-month period typically filled with big-budget action movies and sequels.
