Judge Judy Grindr Case Leaves Her Baffled
Judge Judy Grindr case baffles the veteran TV judge, but she quickly understands how it all works.
The case featured two people who met off one of the worlds most popular gay dating apps, Grindr, and involved an unpaid loan.
On a recent episode of Judge Judy, a 47 year old plaintiff was suing the 23 year old defendant for unpaid loans. The defendant believed that it was a gift.
In response to Judge Judy’s question as to how they met, the defendant stated that,
“Um, we met on a, um … social website. It’s actually called Grindr. … It’s an app for your phone or your iPad. It’s a social app that tells you where homosexual males are and their proximity to where you are.”
Judge Judy listened to their story and was confused when the defendant said that they met up at a restaurant,
“Mr. Murphy, so, what you’re telling me, sir, is you went on this website in order to find someone who had the same sexual predisposition you did?”
When the defendant stated that he was just looking for friends, Judge Judy’s famous wit came into play.
“If I was looking just to make friends, I wouldn’t go on a website that said it’s just for little, old Jewish ladies. I would try to expand my horizons a little bit, do you understand, Mr. Murphy?”
She ended up dismissing the case as the plaintiff gave the money with no reasonable expectations that it be paid back.
