Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to produce a film based on the Sandman comic.

The Sandman comic book series has been applauded for having many LGBT characters.

American actor, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed on to produce a film based on the LGBT inclusive comic book series, Sandman.

The series is written by Neil Gaiman and features a number of LGBT characters. The openly gay characters include Cluracan, Hazel, Foxglove, and Desire. As well, it includes a transgendered character named Wanda.

Gordon-Levitt took to Twitter to announce his excitement for the project,

At first, reports were saying that Gordon-Levitt had signed on to both star and direct the feature film. This would’ve been his directorial follow up to Don Jon, which was released earlier this year. He wrote on Twitter to clarify that he would only be producing,

Gordon-Levitt is no stranger to comic book adaptations.  He starred in the blockbuster film, The Dark Knight Rises. Watch the trailer below:
