Sitcom star, Jim Parsons, is the highest paid openly gay actor on television. He has a new contact for The Big Bang Theory that will pay him 1 million dollars per episode for the next three seasons. The deal is said to be worth 90 million dollars and includes back end deals and signing bonuses.
Parsons has been with his long term partner, Todd Spiewak since 2002, and came out in 2012.
Previously, the highest paid openly gay actor on TV was David Hyde Pierce on Frasier. He was paid 750,000 dollars per episode during its later seasons.
After these two, openly gay TV actors pale in comparison with: Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) at 210,000, Anna Paquin (True Blood) at 200,000, Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family) at 175,000, and Matt Bomer (White Collar) making between 80,000 to 100,000 per episode.
