The US postal service has released a commemorative Harvey Milk stamp.

The stamp was created to honour the iconic LGBT activist.

A Harvey Milk stamp has been created using a photograph by Daniel Nicoletta. The photo shows Milk standing in front of his camera store in the Castro District of San Francisco.

The US Postal Service (USPS) made their announcement via Twitter.

The USPS will release the commemorative stamp to honour the iconic Harvey Milk for his efforts as a LGBT activist. In the late 70′s, he was one of the first openly gay elected officials in the US. Sadly, his life was cut short when he was assassinated less than a year later.

His life was immortalized in the biopic film, Milk, starring Sean Penn.
