First gay olympian wins gold at Sochi in speed skating.

Irene Wust is from the Netherlands and has now won gold at three Olympics in a row.

Irene Wust from the Netherlands becomes the first openly gay Olympian to win a medal at the Sochi Olympics.

Wust received a gold medal in the 3000m speed skating event held at the Adler Arena.

She posted this photo to her instagram…

Wust has been open about her bisexuality and this is her third straight Olympics winning gold. Previously, she took home gold in the 1500m speed skating event in Vancouver and the 3000m speed skating event in Tofino.

She joins her fellow Dutch teammate, Sven Kramer, who took home gold previously in the men’s 3000m speed skating.
