James Bond Actor, Ben Whishaw talks coming out in a new interview.

Whisaw discusses the courage that it takes to come out today, saying, “it’s an intimate and private and difficult conversation for most people”.

Ben Whishaw has opened up about coming out in a new interview. The James Bond actor, who plays Q in the franchise, shares that he believes that it takes courage to come out.

“… it takes courage and people have to do it in their own time, which is a negotiation you see happening in the film.”

Whisaw is referencing his new film, Lilting, which tells the story of a mother discovering that her son is gay after his death.

Whishaw came out last summer, when he announced that he was in a civil partnership with Australian composer, Mark Bradshaw.

He explained his own experience of having to come out,

“It’s hard to have a conversation with people you’ve known your whole life about a very intimate thing. It’s massively weighted with all sorts of stuff, whatever the wider world is saying… it’s an intimate and private and difficult conversation for most people.”
