A UK man has credited Dustin Hoffman with saving his life.
Hoffman rescued a London lawyer when he suffered a heart attack while jogging in the city’s Hyde Park.
Sam Dempster this week told Britain’s Sun newspaper that actor Dustin Hoffman came to his aid when he collapsed while jogging. He said “I have no memory of what happened. The paramedics told me I had been saved by Dustin Hoffman. It’s unbelievable”.
Paramedics told the newspaper that Hoffman called emergency services and tended to Dempster as he waited for them to arrive. Hoffman, who has a home nearby, left only after they had re-started Dempster’s heart.
Hoffman’s Los Angeles-based representative confirmed the account, meaning Hoffman has become the latest celebrity in recent weeks to help rescue a person in crisis.
Patrick Dempsey played a real-life action hero at the end of April, when, using a crowbar, a fire extinguisher and quick timing, the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star pulled a teenage boy to safety after his car flipped over near Dempsey’s California home.
After rescuing Weston Masset, Dempsey called paramedics and stayed by the teen’s side as he was airlifted to a hospital, where he was treated for a concussion and an eye injury.
And this week, sources have told TMZ that Mila Kunis rescued a man who works her house after he collapsed on Saturday when he suffered a violent seizure and began choking and vomiting.
Kunis reportedly grabbed the man’s head, turned it to the side so he wouldn’t choke, while another person stuffed a wallet in his mouth so he wouldn’t swallow his tongue.
Both have been credited with saving the life’s of the people they helped rescue.
